Michael Mullin was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts and spent most of his childhood in Wallingford, Connecticut. He graduated from Choate in 1985 and then returned to Boston to earn a BA in English from Tufts and an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. Even though he has lived in California since 1996, all his sports allegiances remain in his native New England. He currently lives in Pasadena with his wife and their teenage twins.

Before becoming a writer, Michael taught writing courses at Emerson College and at Quincy Community College. Prior to that he was a preschool teacher in Connecticut. The skills he learned in those classrooms have made him a natural on author visits to schools.

After working as a copywriter at Disney, Michael wrote an original story about the 8th dwarf that no one knew about. Aptly titled 8: The Previously Untold Story of the Previously Unknown 8th Dwarf, the independently published eBook has become somewhat of a cult hit with readers and bloggers. Eventually the story became the first of three twisted fairytales in TaleSpins, the first printed book that launched Michael’s publishing company, Gemiknight Press in May of 2013.

Since then he has worked continuously to build a portfolio of exceptional books for readers of various ages to enjoy. He is currently focused on appearances at book fairs and schools as the primary means of the promotion of his work.

Michael’s coolest family legend by far is that his father, Dr. Robert Mullin (in the shades below), was the navy doctor who gave John Glenn his post-orbital checkup aboard the U.S.S. Noah on February 20, 1962.
